Foyles to host F.A.B summer festival

One of London’s major bookshops is to bring favourite children’s literary and on-screen characters to life in a summer festival of fun.

Foyles’ flagship store in Charing Cross Road will host a six-week series of events including a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, to mark the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, and a hunt for Wally of the Where’s Wally? books.

Model-makers from Aardman animations will hold workshops to enable youngsters to create their own Shaun the Sheep models, while more hands-on activity will include a Thunderbirds training day and Lego construction sessions ahead of the launch of new Build Your Own Adventure books to go with the Ninjago ninja range.

Other sessions include animal science with Nicola Davies, former presenter of the BBC’s Really Wild Show, and human bodies with Maggie Li, author of The Amazing Human Body Detectives.
