Fergie makes a Bealine

The Duchess of York and her daughter Princess Beatrice stole the show on Naomi Campbell's charity catwalk as London Fashion Week drew to a close.

Fergie and Beatrice, 19, held hands and laughed as they modelled matching black chiffon Dolce & Gabbana black dresses and an estimated £5 million worth of Garrard jewellery at the Fashion For Relief event at the Natural History Museum.

They drew cheers from some of the fashion world's biggest names including models Elle Macpherson, Claudia Schiffer and Kate Moss.

An onlooker said: "They were a sensation and seemed to be really enjoying it. Beatrice looked a little nervous, but her mother clasped her hand firmly and they totally owned the catwalk. They got the biggest applause of the night."

Mother and daughter celebrated their success at an after-show party at the Mahiki club, a favourite haunt of Bea's cousins, princes William and Harry. The fashion show, in aid of the Rotary Flood Disaster Appeal, featured more than 50 celebrities including Boy George, actor Christian Slater and footballer Rio Ferdinand modelling creations from over 40 designers.

Hostess Campbell appeared on the catwalk twice - in a gold Chanel dress and a black leather dress by Hackney-based designer Christopher Kane. British models headed by Lily Cole mode l led Fashion Relief T-shirts created by Burberry.

Beatrice's catwalk debut is to be followed by an appearance in a film about the young Queen Victoria in which she has a small role. It is the first time a member of the royal family has taken a part in a movie.
