Chef Vivek Singh: 'London is better than Delhi for Indian food'
Top chef Vivek Singh says London is better for Indian food than Delhi as the capital’s cooks are “more experimental” with his native cuisine.
The executive chef for three of the city’s leading restaurants — The Cinnamon Club, Cinnamon Kitchen and Cinnamon Soho — said: “There are strong reasons to call London the culinary capital of the world. The food scene is more experimental than a lot of other places and always changing. In terms of Indian food, I think you can get better dishes here than in Delhi.

“You can get food in London that simply wouldn’t exist in India. So yes, London’s better.” Singh was taking part in the Boisdale Shooting Cup at West London Shooting School in Northolt. Attended by chefs including Richard Corrigan and Fergus Henderson, it marked the Glorious Twelfth — the start of the red grouse season.
Most hunting of wild animals in India is banned under the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.
Singh, 44, who was born in West Bengal, said: “Some of the best dishes I serve at the Cinnamon Club are game-based curries which you will not find in India.”
