Giambattista Valli's haute couture show was made for the frill seekers

For frill seekers who like their couture served extra frothy, Giambattista Valli’s latest showcase at Paris Couture Week delivered.

Taking to the catwalk last night, which was lavishly lined with lavender for the occasion, fantasy ball gowns fit for a fairytale took centre stage.

Among the highlights in a showcase in which excess came as standard were neon pink dresses, cut from mille-feuille layers of tulle and slashed thigh-high at the front, along with voluminous ruffled turquoise confections.

A firm favourite among a new generation of high-paying clients, this was contemporary couture for young starlets with a burning desire to stand out on the red carpet.

Feathered fancies also featured high on the agenda, from marabou-trimmed stilettos to tweed jackets and floral gowns furnished in plumage.
