Strictly Come Dancing star Alexandra Burke ‘inconsolable after backstage meltdown over dance-off with Davood Ghadami’

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Alexandra Burke reportedly suffered a meltdown backstage after she found herself in the bottom two for the second week in a row.

The singer, 29, was pitted against Davood Ghadami in Sunday night’s dance-off despite topping the leader board with her Charleston to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins.

The judges voted unanimously to save her, but Burke was said to be “inconsolable” after filming finished.

“Alexandra was sobbing and shaking in the green room after the dance-off,” a source told The Sun.

“She couldn’t understand why the public had voted her into the bottom two for the second week in a row despite getting great scores.

“She had to be reassured by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, she seemed inconsolable.”

Burke and Ghadami received the fewest public votes a week after Burke was forced to compete against Susan Calman in the dance-off.

But some viewers were left angered by the judges’ decision to save her once again, with some claiming the show is being ‘fixed’ in favour of the former X Factor winner.

On leaving, Ghadami said starring in the BBC ballroom competition had been a “real gift”.

He said: “There have been so many highlights I’ve had the best time and this is why I’m smiling because I never thought I’d get this far. I’ve never done anything like this before. I’m going to spend the next two weeks dancing with my two beautiful girls at home.”
