El Presidente: Amazon Prime releases trailer for 2015 Fifa corruption scandal show

Amazon Prime Video have today released the official trailer for El Presidente, which will launch on Prime Video in the UK and around the world next month.

El Presidente, which is filmed Spanish with English subtitles, tells the story of the 2015 “Fifa Gate” corruption scandal and will be aired by Prime Video in more than 200 countries from June 5.

The comedy drama looks at the rise and fall of Sergio Jadue, a small‐time Chilean football club president who rose from obscurity to become a key player in a $150m bribery conspiracy at the hand of the infamous Argentine Football Association (AFA) president Julio Grondona.

Jadue was appointed president of the Chilean Football Association (ANFP) in 2011 and although coach Marcelo Bielsa resigned the following year due to differences between the two, La Roja went on to win the first trophy in their history as they claimed the 2015 Copa America under Jorge Sampaoli.

But by November that year, the president had resigned for his part in the infamous 2015 Fifa corruption case, which saw a huge shake-up inside world football's governing body.

In this eight-part series, Jadue is played by Colombian actor Andres Parra (best known for his portrayal of Pablo Escobar in El Patron del Mal).

El Presidente also stars Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder) and was written and directed by Academy Award-winning director and screenwriter Armando Bo (Birdman).
