Welcome to genital origami

Most men would admit to being more than a little bit interested in their trouser department, probably viewing it as an area that requires a lot of love and attention. They may even have gone as far as to practise the odd trick to fallback on should any party appear to be losing its sparkle.

But how does a chap make the leap from impersonating an elephant in the pub to being blown across a stage on a skateboard using their scrotum as a sail?

Aussie duo David Friend and Simon Morley have made a living out of re-arranging their genitals for public entertainment. There are no fancy props involved in Puppetry of the Penis, just two brave (or perhaps slightly mad) men, naked but for their shoes, socks and a microphone stand.

Their genital repertoire is long and well-rehearsed. Fast food fans will never look at their dinner in the same light again as hamburgers, hotdogs and the particularly repellent chicken nugget are served-up in genital form.

Kangaroos, turtles, a squirrel complete with 'tree' prop and a bulldog also make an appearance. The latter proved to be particularly traumatic for one member of the audience when she ended-up with Morley sitting, butt naked, in her lap (first rule of 'penis theatre': don't sit anywhere near the front row).

More tricks followed, including the 'wristwatch', 'g-string' and 'the fan'. We were assured it was pain free but the grimaces and howls were definitely louder from the men in the audience.

Just when we thought it couldn't get anymore surreal, it was time for 'audience participation'; words that no doubt sent a shiver down everyone's spine. All I can reveal is that it involved the phrase 'fruit bat handstand' and that volunteer Mandy has a lovely polaroid of the occasion to display on her fridge.

Anyone opting for the cheap seats will be relieved to hear that they won't miss out on any of the eye-watering contortions; the pair's handiwork is projected onto a large screen behind them so that everyone can get a good eyeful.

Highbrow entertainment this ain't, which you'll no doubt have deduced from the title on your ticket, but it's worth a visit just to see what punishment the male member can endure.
