The Jacksons are back!

The Jackson 5 are hoping to stage a West End musical as part of a major comeback. Middle Jackson brother Jermaine revealed they are in discussions with theatre impresarios in a revival for the group, who have not recorded together for 20 years.

He also revealed that troubled brother Michael has shown interest in recording with the rest of the family.

Jermaine said: "This will be the first time since the album Victory in 1984 where all the Jacksons will have a reunion and release an album together as the Jacksons once again.

"With the album and musical going ahead the next step would be to follow it up with a world tour." He said the musical would be "a tremendous show" that would chart the beginning of the family's musical success in Gary, Indiana and end up now.

"We will explore the story of how music played such a large part in our lives, and the results in terms of record sales speak for themselves," he said.

The eldest member of the family group is co-lead singer Jackie, now 53, followed by guitarist Tito, 50, bassist and vocalist Jermaine, 49, Marlon, 47, and lead singer Michael, 45.

The reunion has been helped by London businessman Dave Bance. Jermaine and his brothers had a conference call last week with the millionaire

entrepreneur and agreed to reform. They plan to launch a TV reality show in Britain and America to discover talented singers for the lead roles in the musical.

Jermaine added: "We have decided to use a new concept for auditioning - where contestants appear on the reality show and the audience and viewers at home get to vote who should be in the musical and who will play each character - to be broadcast around the world.

"With the greatness of the Jackson music and the love pop fans have around the world for them, these shows will be a huge success." The Jackson 5 first formed in 1962. Michael began singing with them at the age of five. They released their debut single, I Want You Back, in 1970.
