Hoggett and his co-director Scott Graham admit they find the fact that Pool is so personal very exciting. 'Ravenhill writes political plays brilliantly: he never smacks you round the face,' says Hoggett. 'But he's opened a very personal door.'
Frantic has also grown up in the decade since it first started; its work is no longer confined to 'the problems of twentysomethings'. And the physically expressive style it helped pioneer is increasingly hitting the mainstream.
'It's a brave thing for Mark to acknowledge that sometimes movement can do things that words cannot,' laughs Graham. Ravenhill agrees. 'My language is brittle, cold and hard,' he says. 'And their use of movement is muscular and impassioned. So it's all about the tension between the two.'
