Cirque du Soleil are very artistic, and the show is very humane as they don't use animals.

I don't like to see animals in the circus, with the whip, y'know? They have great music too and I like the choreography - it's brilliant. Fantastic acrobatics. All the things that I like in a circus.

I first saw Cirque du Soleil in Paris - in le Grand Chapiteau. For me, circus is the big top. In a theatre, it's more a parade or a show - private. In the real circus, you need to be altogether on the bench with the music - da da da da da da da da - with the clowns outside to welcome you.

I don't like things too claustrophobic. I like open things. It's very popular in France. We also have Avatar and Tzigane from Eastern Europe, like the gypsies. They were unfortunate last year. There was a big storm in Paris and because of the violent winds they lost everything. The French people raised money through a charity so that they could buy a new big top.

Cirque du Soleil is better than the usual. The show is sophisticated yet very physical. They combine movement and statuesque balancing acts from ground level and above. The show has a very cultural feel about it. I've been to small circuses but this is different. Other footballers such as Frank Leboeuf and Gustavo Poyet like it, too. We're all big children. We could do some sort of show together. A few football tricks. Some people think that the British public don't always take to shows with a difference like this, but why not? I know that people will love it, just like I do. People think it's weird to admit they enjoy the circus but everyone loves it. If I can go I will. It will be a pleasure.
