Puppetry and puns

The story could be clearer. The puppet Jethro is sometimes forgotten, as Crooked Dex - who gave the world minotaurs and Medusa - spews fresh horrors out of his Pandemonic Generator Booth. Still, it's a happy diversion when the results are conjoined characters such as DalÌ Parton or LiberArnie, let alone the sublime Frankenstinatra - 'the Chairman of the Morgue' - and his Rot Pack buddies.

Elephant Man Elvis steps in as Jethro's fairy godfather to let him alter his sinful past. And the audience can vote for a reprieve: what chance did he have anyway, with a mum who called him Mary Ann? The message, for those who insist on such things, is clear: don't dick with destiny.

Brand X are at their most comfortable in masks or using puppets (psychiatrists take note). Some of their fleshier moments lack blood, but you'll be lucky to see a more richly realised trash-culture aesthetic.
