New Year's Resolution!

With a line-up that stretches to no fewer than 93 companies, including a sprinkling of European outfits making their London debuts, this year's Resolution! season of triple bills proudly carries on its tradition of stretching what passes as dance to its Elastigirl outer limits.

Featuring everything from blood and guts physical theatre to the purity of South Asian classicism, the idea behind Resolution! is to provide a performance platform for upandcoming dance talent that might not otherwise see the light of day.

For some of those featured, that's not necessarily a good thing but, tucked away amid the mass of men in pants and pretentious piffle, there are bound to be a few gems.

One rising talent to watch out for is for is the slyly humourous performance artist Sally-Marie, popping up on January 14 alongside Paradance (who describe themselves as international performance whores and wear paper bags on their heads) and the rather more conventional Abigail Marion Dance Company.

That kind of variety is the spice of Resolution! life and tonight's opening selection box is no exception: Hagit Bar-Fleming, Rosie Kay and Nu Tempo promise, between them, pieces which explore British Sign Language, claustrophobia and London's paparazzistrewn nightlife.
