The Country, written by Martin Crimp, is a bit of a thriller - so I can't divulge too much. A doctor called Richard and his wife Corinne (played by Owen Teale and Juliet Stevenson) move from the city to the countryside and the play begins with Richard on his rounds finding a young woman (played by me) who has passed out. He brings her home, and his wife questions him. The girl comes to and kind of shatters their world. It is all about deception and betrayal but there's a lot of humour in it too. We've been laughing throughout the rehearsals, though it's more situation comedy than laughing all the way through for the audience.
