I say, Jeeves, it’s a play about us

PG Wodehouse’s Jeeves and Wooster are to make their West End debut, with Stephen Mangan playing the buffoonish Bertie and Spooks star Matthew Macfadyen his unflappable valet.

Perfect Nonsense, adapted from Wodehouse’s stories, will open at the Duke of York’s on 30 October after a run at Richmond Theatre.

Mangan, 40, from Camden, said: “I am ridiculously excited at the prospect of playing the mentally negligible Bertie Wooster on stage.” Macfadyen, 38, said: “This play is an absolute hoot — a wonderfully crafted and joyful bit of perfect nonsense ” The pair were played on TV by Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry in the 1990s.
