Dick Whittington

I co-wrote Dick Whittington with Brian Blackburn, who's the best panto writer in the world.

I also directed it and star in it - the hardest part is being up there on stage. I'm exhausted as I'm also directing Bradley Walsh in Dick Whittington [Orchard Theatre, Dartford]and then I've got to go and direct Darren Day in Cinderella [Derngate Theatre, Northampton], so I'm knackered.

This show's been going for four years, and it's been the same cast throughout. It's lavish and fabulous and "critically acclaimed". A lot has been spent on it this year and the music is more punchy and rocky. It's a real family show, not just for children - and there's lots of audience participation.

I do pantos as though they were mini-musicals. A lot of people who write them think they should just be directed at children, but I write them so that the whole family is entertained. And it's squeaky clean, so you can bring your auntie.
