Caped crusader ready to fly

It's got your attention already, hasn't it? By giving his project the dubious moniker of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, 19-year-old Sam Duckworth is guaranteed to raise a higher level of interest in his music than if he had recorded under his less-than-dynamic birth-name.

Over the past two years, this alarmingly young Essex boy has grafted out a reputation as something of a wunderkind, thanks to the unusually great heights he manages to scale with just an acoustic guitar and a laptop.

Blessed with an astute, sociopolitical, lyrical slant and an arrestingly impassioned voice, Duckworth skilfully manages to encompass aspects of folk, electronica and even emo into his music to create an end product described (with tongue firmly in cheek) as 'The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager'.

When he gets it right, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is a uncategorisable wonder of endearing vocals and chirpy electro melodies. When he gets it wrong, however, it sounds like Busted doing an acoustic set.

Even though the odd question mark about his musical credibility may linger, Atlantic Records were just one of the major labels who were courting Duckworth and recently prevailed in the hotly contested race for his signature.

Looks like the adventures of this particular caped crusader have only just begun.
