I turned up to smash hit musical not expecting very much. But, despite the night's tackiness - much of it emanating from the gaggles of heckling women in the aisles - the power of the Pachanga was not entirely lost on me. OK, the love scenes were at times toe-curling, but the audience, swilling in goodwill and white wine, understood that the acting had to be sacrificed for the ultimate lift - the Swayze stand-in had clearly been chosen for his steps rather than his thespian credentials.
