Virtually famous: Frances

It’s easy to see where the music business people think Frances will fit.

The 21-year-old from Newbury looks a bit like Adele with Florence’s hair, and has already performed in support to Sam Smith. She’s a part of the Method Records stable, who also brought us Smith and Disclosure. She sits at the piano and does the classic singer-songwriter thing, nothing that hasn’t been done before but pure-voiced and full of emotion on her new single Let It Out, released today.

Radio 1 seem to like her – she’s already been in for one of their Live Lounge covers sessions, where she turned Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean? into (what else?) a smouldering piano ballad last month.

She’s got the electronic pop base covered too, turning her song When It Comes to Us into a more modern slowie with the help of producers Ritual. If you’ve played Sam Smith’s album to death and can’t wait until Adele’s return smashes everyone else to smitherines, this newcomer can capably fill the gap.
