Aided by musical director and saxophonist Yann Jankielewicz — who co-composes and weaves rich avant-garde lines through the tracks, further animated by a clutch of French musical adventurers on keys, horns and double bass — Allen lends his percussion skills and innate sense of rhythm to compositions that reference both Africa and America and seem to shoot off, on occasion, to outer space.
