The Libertines launch Unity Rocks with Brixton gig

The Libertines will return to Brixton’s O2 Academy next month as part of Unity Rocks.

Pete Doherty, Carl Barât and co will take to the stage on Wednesday September 7, kicking off the initiative which will see numerous events and big-name artists across the UK — all playing in a bid to promote unity.

Unity Rocks was founded by Gary Powell of The Libertines. He explains: “The idea is to bring people together, regardless of their creed, colour, religion, of whether they voted Brexit or not.

“This is not about politics or politicians, it’s about unifying as a nation and working to make a united more tolerant Britain, after all the future is in our hands. By using the power of music we hope to ‘pluck' the ears of the political elite to our view and make them notice that our voices must be heard - whether it be via song or otherwise.”
