Ones to watch: Lazy Habits

Consisting of MCs Mr Lazy and Skin Horse, The Lazy Brass Section and DJ Itchi, Lazy Habits combine floor-filling big brass sounds with slick lyrical flow and razor sharp hip-hop.

Formed in 2005, they have built a loyal following and have become firm favourites on the live circuit. Having stormed the summer festival scene, including Glastonbury, Bestival and Secret Garden Party, with their energetic sets, this young band release their debut album this month.

Inspired by New Orleans jazz, soul, hip-hop, and Big Bands of the 50s, a Lazy Habits show packs a punch.

Hailing from Hackney, their sound is deeply rooted in London’s urban scene. On-going support from musical pioneers Soundcrash, and support slots for the likes of Mos Def and Kid Koala, have seen them make a major leap forward in both terms of sound and wider recognition. The band counts Eliza Doolittle, Paloma Faith and a raft of BBC radio DJ’s among their ever-growing fan base.

Lazy Habits will host a special show at XOYO on May 12 with support from Reeps One.
