His first solo single, Pillowtalk sees him ditching his surname in a bid for Prince-like superstardom and gunning for The Weeknd’s market with futuristic blurred beats and a saucy video. It’s certainly more grown-up than his boyband efforts, and a worthwhile shedding of his old skin.

Emerging alongside Coldplay as part of a new wave of polite guitar music at the start of the 2000s, Turin Brakes are still gigging and release a seventh album today. Look out for the catchy strings of the single, Keep Me Around.

South London grime man Stormzy is going global, with a video filmed in Tokyo for new song One Take Freestyle. It’s a confident version of One Take by his fellow rapper Ghetts.

Iggy Pop looks almost sweet holding hands with new collaborator Josh Homme in a pic supporting his next album, Post Pop Depression. Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys is also involved with Break Into Your Heart, the latest song to be unveiled from the March release.

After a debut album of slinky electronic pop in 2013, duo AlunaGeorge return with a dancehall feel on a new song, I’m in Control, which is on YouTube and on sale now.
