Wes crows about latest Scream

Scream 3 is a progression of the story tracing Sidney Prescott, played again by Neve Campbell. It involves a film within a film, on location in and around the set of a Hollywood slasher movie called Stab Three, and the history of drama during a rehearsal for a play called The Fall Of Troy.

Scream 3 is also about Sidney's private life and it's set in Hollywood because that's where she's gone to find a new life. It's got a lot to do with the making of films - and the difference between reality and film reality. It concludes Sidney's story and goes back to the beginning and makes some fresh revelations about the events that led up to her mother's death. Many of the Scream and Scream 2 alumni return, such as Courteney Cox and David Arquette as well as indie chick Parker Posey.

Everyone kept asking me when I made Music Of The Heart, "Why the strange choice?" But it's not half as strange as asking me, "Why horror movies?" I'm a director and I like to work. I only got into horror because I was not getting anywhere with non-horror genre projects and was flat broke with child payments to make. So I did the spooky The Hills Have Eyes and was instantly pigeonholed.

I don't go along with the view that you should stop making horror films because they say it encourages people to do horrible things. Do you stop staging Othello because it has murder in it? Do you cut out the portion of the Bible that has Cain and Abel in it in case somebody decides to kill his brother? It's a dangerous and over-simplified notion to think that if somebody plays something people are going to go out and do it. Hell, you got to take responsiblity for your actions.
