Unfunny business

This movie is so bad it makes Jim Carrey's Ace Ventura 2 look like a comic masterpiece. Dana Carvey - the one in Wayne's World who isn't Mike Myers - plays Pistachio Disguisey, a waiter at his father's restaurant who possesses an almost supernatural gift of mimicry.

Dad (James Brolin) has kept secret the fact that his gift is genetic and that he is descended from a long line of Masters of Disguise, as he does not want his son to follow in the family business. When Dad is captured by Brent Spiner's laughing/farting villain, Pistachio is trained by his grandfather to rescue him.

Hiring the beauteous Jennifer Esposito as his bewildered assistant, Pistachio delivers a series of impressions of decreasing hilarity until the thing just ends.

Judging by the quantity of out-takes shown at the end of the film they must have shot an awful lot of unused footage. Or a lot of awful unusable footage.

If you miss one film this year, make sure it's this one.
