Tri-angle success

The third and best of Lucas Belvaux's impressive trilogy that explored the possibilities of genre cinema by telling parallel stories with the same characters in three quite different forms.

Following the first movie (a thriller), and the second (a comedy), this is a full-blown drama that focuses on a policeman forced into performing an assassination for a local druglord in return for the morphine he needs for his terrifyingly addicted wife.

Convincingly desperate perfomances (especially from Dominique Blanc as Agnes, the wife) and a serious penetration of an enclosed world make this searing, necessary movie a fabulous conclusion to a thoroughly successful experiment.
