While films such as Toy Story used effects to create a cartoon-like world, Final Fantasy (pictured) was an attempt to make a 'normal' film using only CGI. To that end, the production team rendered characters as close to photo-realistic as they could. Designers even had to create realistic moving hair, which involved plotting 60,000 strands of CG hair on the film's hero Dr Aki Ross. Each frame of the film contains 10Mb of data and total production took four years - so by the time the final shots were ready, earlier ones had to be redone with more advanced technology.
