Strange but tame

Regular babysitters are advised to avoid Simon West's efficient horror in which high school student Jill (Camilla Belle), who is looking after two sleeping children in a remote country house, is disturbed by strange phone calls as the wind blows emotively outside.

The film spends too long on exposition and we watch as the building creaks and groans between phone calls for a good 45 minutes before we know that the caller is inside the house.

But it delivers in the end, even though it's nothing like as frightening as the better parts of the 1987 film upon which it is vaguely based.
