Discovered by a Revlon rep in a New York pizza parlour, Natalie Portman is probably one of the most 'normal' celebrities you'll ever meet. And that's something she works on. She came to the US when she was three with her parents - her father's a doctor, mum's an artist. She went to a public school in Long Island, New York, and is now majoring in psychology at college. 'I have three room-mates at college. And I love it, but the work is hard. Today when I finish doing interviews, I have 500 pages of reading and then two papers to write,' she explains, 'so all this work is killing me,' she says in mock desperation. 'Every time I'm studying, I think to myself, if only I would be satisfied with being just an actor, I wouldn't have to do this to myself, but I want to learn. I want to be smart.'
