A bland, relentlessly girlie adaptation of a novel about a teen mermaid.

Aquamarine doesn't know the meaning of love until she meets a handsome beach boy (Jake McDorman).

Its central characters are not the mermaid and her boyfriend, but two younger girls (Emma Roberts and Joanna Levesque) who discover the fishy heroine.

They bond, gossip, titter and swoon with some relish.

Just right for its intended audience. Others beware.
