Her previous movie with Leary, the £3million Double Whammy, also missed out on cinema release.
There was relative success with Bedazzled, the 2000 remake of the Dudley Moore-Peter Cook 1967 comedy. Co-starring with Brendan Fraser, Miss Hurley played the Devil.
This movie was released but its box office takings meant it was still a flop.
It cost £35million to make but earned only £7million.
Before that was The Weight Of Water with Sean Penn in 2000. The £ 15million movie took a trifling £100,000 at the U.S. box office and went straight to video in Britain.
Method has been particularly disastrous for Miss Hurley as she fell out with director Duncan Roy.
'Liz seems to have the impression that she is a great actress,' he said later. 'She totally believes that she is someone special. She is not.'
It was not the first time Miss Hurley's acting has been criticised. Earlier this year Samantha Morton, twice nominated for an Oscar, declared she was 'not a proper actress'.
Despite the setbacks, the future is not all that bleak for Miss Hurley, who has a two-year-old son.
There is still her modelling contract with cosmetics company Estee Lauder to fall back on.
And as she is said to be worth an impressive £10million, she could always just stay at home.
