Pen?lope Cruz, 27, was born in Madrid and has bought herself a house there where she lives between jobs, with her cats, two in the street, two in the house. She actually took her favourite cat, Lucas, with her to Cephalonia. 'He hated the trip by plane but as soon as he arrived I opened the house doors and he went out and made many friends and was very happy there. Now I live in hotels all the time so I don't have a home life. When I'm home I spend all my time with friends and family, my mother, who no longer works, my father, who has an engineering business, my sister, my brother who's a student. Of course, Pedro [Almod?var] and Fernando [Trueba, who directed her in Belle Epoque and The Girl Of Your Dreams (La Ni?a de tus ojos) which won her the Spanish equivalent of an Oscar - a Goya] are family, beloved family, and I want to keep working with them and working in Spain.' She talks with single-minded determination. 'Soon I'm doing a Spanish film called Without News From God with Victoria Abril, then another with Pedro. He was born to write for women and I would never say no to a film with him.'
