Consider yourselves all stars

Today you may not have heard of them but tomorrow night young Londoners Barney Clark, Harry Eden and Leanne Rowe will be film stars.

That's when the actors - who are 12, 15 and 23 respectively, will join director Roman Polanski and Sir Ben Kingsley in Prague at the world premiere of the £33million blockbuster version of Oliver Twist.

All three have been plucked from relative obscurity to star alongside Sir Ben as Fagin. Barney, who plays

Oliver, was chosen from 800 other young hopefuls and spent five months filming in Czechoslovakia last summer.

He admits he is only just getting used to the idea of being a star.

"It has only started to kick off recently," he said. "At a press junket in New York last week I did 65 interviews - everyone was firing questions at me.

"I'm really looking forward to Saturday because I've never been to a proper premiere before, with the red carpet and all that."

Leanne, from Brentwood, starred in an episode of The Famous Five at 14 and had a part in Franco Zeffirelli's film of Jane Eyre.

But after that she focused on her education and Nancy in Oliver will be her first major film role.

She said: "I'm heading out to Prague today and I'm a little stressed out. I haven't even sorted my outfit yet." To recreate the seamy, seedy labyrinth of Victorian London, Polanski built what was Europe's largest set in Prague.

"They built London all over again," said Leanne. "You'd walk around past houses, shops, churches - it was like going back in time.

"Polanski is 72 but he's got unbelievable energy. As a director he knows exactly what he wants and he knows how to get the best out of each actor. As for Ben, he was incredibly kind, just brilliant to work with.
