It was a nauseating moment in a blockbuster movie that was big on special effects and not much else.

Now, the scene in the 1996 film Independence Day in which US President Bill Pullman rallies his countrymen to fight the alien invaders has been named the cheesiest of all time.

The effort beat other Cheddarenhanced moments, such as the scene from Top Gun in which Val Kilmer's Iceman tells Tom Cruise's Maverick: 'You can be my wingman any time'.

The ending of Four Weddings And A Funeral, where Andie MacDowell and Hugh Grant get together with the line 'Is it still raining? I hadn't noticed' also contained a high cheese factor.

'Talk about killing the moment,' said Empire, whose writers compiled the top-ten list.

The magazine likened all of Robin Williams' films to 'being dipped in a churning vat of Camembert'.
