Big in Japan

The first Ju-On was made cheaply in Japan by writer-director Takashi Shimizu. He then made the second one more expensively in America, and now returns to his home country for what is, in effect, Ju-On 3.

Actress Kyoko (Noriko Sakai) crashes her car after a terrifying encounter with a ghostly child. She is subsequently invited to be the celebrity guest on a TV show investigating haunted houses. For the programme, she returns to the scene of a haunting only for a phantom hairpiece to chase her around the room.

Shimizu gets better as a film-maker but worse as a story-teller each time he essays variants of the horror story that has made a fortune in Japan.
