Baker Street

The true story of a London bank robbery that created political upheaval in the Seventies is to be made into a big-budget Hollywood movie.

Miramax Films - the company behind The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, and The Talented Mr Ripley - has closed a deal with Jonathan Lynn, who made The Whole Nine Yards, to direct Baker Street, which was written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, the writing team behind The Commitments.

No actors have been cast yet, but it is expected that the film will be shot mainly in London.
