The performances are all good, but the two leads, Im Soo-jung as the feisty sister, and Yeom Jeong-a as the malevolent stepmother, are outstanding. The former brings the unaffected poise of a Far Eastern Winona Ryder to her evocation of knowing, and yet deranged, adolescence, while Yeom Jeong-a, with her savagely curved bangs, framing manic ear and then vulnerable eye, reminded me of an anorexic Abigail on acid, feverishly in search of another social solecism to commit.
