All aboard Marrakesh excess

He is the hellraiser of Hollywood with an insatiable appetite for sex, drink and drugs. Now Colin Farrell's badboy reputation is sweeping Morocco, where he is filming Oliver Stone's new blockbuster, Alexander.

Drinking till dawn, dropping his trousers in bars and stubbing cigarettes out on the furniture have already sparked complaints. And his co-star, Angelina Jolie, has reportedly moved out of their hotel in disgust at his behaviour.

Irishman Farrell, who is starring as Alexander the Great in the epic, began his trip staying - at great expense - at Marrakesh's La Mamounia, one of the world's top hotels. It boasts five restaurants, four bars, and a palm-fringed pool in its sumptuous 32-acre grounds.

But his £1,500 suite was not to his taste and he quickly requested a move to Le Meridien down the road, where the rest of the film crew were staying and he could enjoy a series of raucous nights.

He was an instant hit with his colleagues, who declared him "one of the lads". But his antics, particularly his propensity to drop his trousers, was less popular with the females in the party.

"He was always getting his bits out when he'd had a few, so much so that we nicknamed him 'Cock Out Colin'," said a crew member. "We thought it was hilarious but Angelina didn't, and eventually had enough and said she was leaving."

Jolie, 28, subsequently moved to the Sofitel in Marrakesh, taking her adopted Vietnamese son, Maddox, with her. Her fellow actors say that Jolie - who last year split from her second husband Billy Bob Thornton, himself a legendary hellraiser - avoids the alcohol-fuelled evenings after filming in favour of quiet nights in her room.

Soon after Jolie beat her retreat, the staff of Le Meridien had apparently tired of 27-year-old Farrell too, complaining both of his penchant for undressing in the bar and his habit of stubbing his cigarettes out on the furniture. Following this the actor moved out.

Farrell has worked hard on his bad boy reputation. The former clean-cut star of Ballykissangel boasted that he once got through 20 ecstasy tablets, four grammes of cocaine, half an ounce of hash, three bottles of Jack Daniel's, 12 bottles of wine, 60 pints and 280 cigarettes in a single week.

And earlier this year, he paid £10,000 to keep a Los Angeles lapdancing club open after hours so he could continue to see his favourite strippers.
