EXHIBITION: 'Portobello' by Dave Watts

Anyone with an interest in street photography or a soft spot for the Portobello Road should get down to Notting Hill this week to check out globe-trotting photographer, Dave Watts' new exhibition.

Watts, who has snapped many far-flung corners of the earth from Iran to Georgia via Ethiopia, moved to Portobello Road in 2006 and was immediately transfixed by its vibrant, melting-pot culture, original characters and unique identity.

His fascination with the contrasts and contradictions of the area’s different cultures, from Moroccan food stalls and Portuguese bakeries to vintage clothing and antique stalls, is captured in this new exhibition – simply entitled 'Portobello' – and beautifully captures the area’s spirit and energy.

Taken over the last couple of years, you’ll find photographs of anything from buskers in the snow at Christmas to Notting Hill carnival at summertime.

Through each of the 25 prints on display (all available to buy as a limited edition of five), Watts shares an unique snapshot of a local's loving perspective.
