Artist to perform for 98 hours on the Southbank

Nikhil Chopra will take performance art to the next level with his 98 hour creation that will see the artist living, eating, sleeping and creating in one space.

Situated on the fifth floor of the Royal Festival Hall, the art creation – called The Black Pearl: The City to the River - will be visible to see from the street below.

Nikhil Chopra will arrive in London on a boat, in which the 24 hours previous to his art performance will see him inhale the sights, smells and sounds from London’s waterways in hope it will inspire his creation.

From Goa, Nikhil Chopra intends to use historical events and is influenced by the colonies Britain once owned. The Indian artist hopes to redefine Britishness, as well as emphasising his Indian roots in his art project.

Taking place May 26 – 30 at he Royal Festival Hall, The Black Pearl: The City to the River art project is free to all who want to witness Nikhil Chopra create some stunning performance art.
