Tino Sehgal presents his final instalment of a trilogy of exhibitions, the Tate Britain hosts a dauntingly comprehensive Hogarth exhibition and it's your last chance to see The Past From Above...

This is the final instalment of a trilogy of exhibitions, dreamt up by London-born, Berlin-based Tino Sehgal. The first show was staged back in 2005, and pivoted on two works: a piece of choreography inspired by Bruce Nauman, in which a lone figure writhed bafflingly on the gallery floor. In the second exhibition, visitors were guided through a series of "wonderland" style spaces and asked to comment on progress and civilisation. Anyone who felt engaged by those experiences will find plenty to admire in this latest, which is entitled This Success/This Failure and transforms the ICA into one big school playground, complete with kids. Hogarth
Tate Britain, SW1
It's for satirical engravings like Gin Lane and Beer Street that we remember Hogarth; in fact he had a multi-faceted career, encompassing society portraits as well as salacious brothel scenes, and confronting subjects from crime and corruption to sex, charity and patriotism. In fact, Hogarth was the nation's first truly modern artist - or so this dauntingly comprehensive exhibition seeks to persuade us. It makes an entertaining case, bringing together over 200 works from drawings and sketches to paintings and those famous engravings. Highlights include The Rake's Progress and Marriage a-la-Mode. Anselm Kiefer: Aperiatur Terra
White Cube, W1, and Royal Academy of Arts, W1
Christian theology, a 13-metre palm tree, and an enormous concrete tower feature in this dual-venue exhibition by one of the strongest artists at work today. The bulk of it's to be found at the White Cube's West End space, where a single installation, Palmsonntag, fills the ground floor, with 18 paintings lining one wall and a gangly palm tree lying across the gallery. Downstairs, four panoramic canvases depict scenes of apocalypse and redemption. Around the corner at the RA, two concrete towers loom up from the classical courtyard. Though it lacks some of the nervy intensity of Keifer's finest work, it's an undeniably classy show. (WC: 020 7930 5373; RA: 020 7300 8000). Until 17 March.

At Home: Portraits of Artists from the Royal Academy Collection

This eclectic exhibition can feel a little bitty, but it's hard to resist its immense range. Made up entirely of works from the Royal Academy's own collection, it sets out to explore the way that artists themselves have been represented in art over the past 250 years. In scale, its exhibits range from a tiny portrait of Constable by C.R. Leslie to Giuseppe Ceracchi's formal bust of Reynolds and Charles West Cope's solipsistic Victorian group, 'The Council of the Royal Academy.' Among the highlights are self-portraits by Thomas Gainsborough and John Bellany, which add another angle to this intimate glimpse of artists' lives. (020 7300 8000). Until 27 November.

LAST CHANCE: The Past From Above

Over a 40-year period, Swiss-born photographer Georg Gerster has travelled to 111 countries, capturing some of the world's most interesting archeological sites. What makes his images unusual is that they're all shot from above. From ancient Babylonian cities in modern-day Iraq to Celtic capitals in Ireland, he's hovered over history, camera at the ready. This lofty perspective reveals not only the sites' fragility, but also the breadth of shared ideas and concerns common to cultures separated by time and space. Not all of the resulting images hold their own as photographs, but it's a trip well worth making. (020 7323 8181). Until 11 February.
