Great dinner party material

On the evidence of this latest show, one can't help feeling that Londoners have missed out on gently amusing comic Miles Jupp. After spending the best part of a decade living in Scotland, he only returned to his hometown last year - and his toff-versus-proles anecdotes are perfect for the chinless moneyed urbanites he's subtly caricaturing.

His latest show Everyday Rage And Dinner Party Chit-Chat, recounts tales of how his tantrums have landed him in bother. Such as the time he punched an easyJet sign in Stansted airport after missing a flight ('there's only so long you can spend in Sunglasses Hut before you start to self-harm'), and how his penchant for playing by the rules saw him get thrown out of Laser Quest - two entertaining tales guaranteed to endear this theology graduate with 'pre-Raphaelite curls' to you. But three-quarters of the way through, Jupp starts to sag; an overlong pizza joint-trashing saga lacks a killer punchline and his sentences are occasionally inchoate enough to become slightly bothersome.

Still, all's saved by a perfect final course - a guilty pleasure of a game in which he fires out truncated sentences and implores audience members to fill in the blanks with cheese-related puns. 'No one has ever done this before,' he smiles self-mockingly. No, but we'll be pinching the idea for our next dinner party...
