Venture capitalists plough £1m into luxury health supplements maker Lyma

A venture capital firm run by a scion of the Wolfson retail family has ploughed £1 million into luxury London-founded health supplements maker Lyma to fuel expansion plans.

Pembroke VCT, led by managing director Andrew Wolfson, has taken a stake in the business — which supplies celebrities and victoria’s Secret models — to help expand its production capabilities and recruit more staff.

Wolfson, who is the brother of next chief Lord Wolfson, said Lyma was a “muchneeded pioneer in the health and wellness industry”.

“We back founders who we believe have the drive and resilience to build businesses that will be the future of Britain’s commercial success,” he said.

Lyma was co-founded by fitness coach russell Bateman and journalist Lucy Goff and is one of the world’s most expensive supplements, with start kits costing £199 and refills costing £149 a pop.
