Sir Philip Green’s chairman quits a year after BHS collapse

Lord Grabiner QC, the chairman of Sir Philip Green’s retail empire, is poised to step down from the board, which came under fire following the collapse of High Street chain BHS.

The barrister (pictured) is understood to be quitting the board of Taveta Investments, the parent company of Arcadia Group, which he has chaired since 2002. He is understood to have earned £125,000 a year from the role.

The impending exit, first reported by Sky News, comes just over a year after BHS collapsed into administration.

Last July following a probe into the BHS failure, a report from MPs said: “The complacent performance of Lord Grabiner as the non-executive chairman of the Taveta group boards represented the apogee of weak corporate governance.”

Grabiner and Green could not be reached for comment.
