Legends Bob Dylan and Stevie Nicks also both sold rights over the past year for huge sums, with Dylan’s sale to Universal Music Group thought to be in the hundreds of millions.

Mercuriadis highlighted that the star wrote or co-wrote “virtually every song she has ever recorded”. He said: “She is a superb creator who has led the charge from what was massive physical success to now having bigger success in streaming than most of her contemporaries.”
