Sales rise at Hard Rock Cafe's UK portfolio

The Hard Rock Café chain of themed restaurants has reported higher sales in the UK.

The firm’s branches in London, Glasgow and Manchester generated revenues of £23.4 million in 2017, up from £21.8 million a year earlier, new figures show.

Famed for covering its walls with rock and roll memorabilia, the company saw pre-tax profits edge up to £3.8 million from £3.5 million.

The chain, owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, said it benefited from an influx of tourists taking advantage of the weaker pound. It noted higher spending from German and Italian visitors.

The growth comes despite the wider UK casual dining industry grappling with higher costs linked to wages and business rates, and weaker consumer confidence.
