Whitbread shares shot to the top of the FTSE leader board as Costa saw a strong return to growth with same-store sales up 2.6% against just 0.5% in the preceding quarter.
The shares rocketed 142p, or 3.5%, to 4183p as analysts suggested Premier could see a quick bounce back if the Remain campaign wins.
Across the country, Premier showed much less of a slowdown than in the capital — its 1.2% fall was slightly better than the 1.6% plunge across the entire budget-hotel market.
