Pizza Express to restart delivery service from certain London branches

Pizza Express on Tuesday said it will restart a delivery service from a number of London branches, as it joined the list of dining businesses trying to create income during the virus crisis.

The High Street chain closed its sites when the Covid-19 lockdown came into effect in March. Restaurants have been allowed to offer takeaways and deliveries, but many groups have waited and chosen to work on plans ensuring they can do this in line with social distancing guidelines.

Zoe Bowley, managing director of Pizza Express, said: “We opted to take some extra time to ensure our phased re-opening happens in a safe and responsible way in line with Government advice.”

Bowey said a phased delivery-only trial will start from 13 London sites from May 28. “Once this trial has been safely completed, we’ll consider our plans for further roll out.”

Bowey told the restaurant industry news site Propel the areas where the trial is starting are “where we have historically seen high customer demand”.
