In the same month that Star Wars: Episode VIII started filming at Pinewood, the studio’s next instalment in its own home-movie was put up for debate after its shares underperformed and an attempt to widen its investors and gain entry into the main stock exchange failed.
Whilst a £30 million share placing last year saw Pinewood invest in five new stages — it today announced the first production to film on them will be Barbara Broccoli’s Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool — the studio wants to add a total of one million square feet of new facilities, including workshops, production offices and infrastructure. That requires considerably more investment, which might come from a new owner.
Shares in the studio company rose 4%, or 21.4p, to 563.9p.
