One Media iP Group aims to please ‘Dad’s Army generation’ with latest rights buy

One Media iP Group has snapped up the rights to thousands of recordings from 20th century legends as streaming services such as Spotify sign up record numbers of over-60s listeners. 

The AIM-listed firm, which is based at Pinewood Studios, has acquired licensor’s royalties to catalogue 21 Vision and its more than 2,000 live recordings from stars including Dame Vera Lynn, Count Basie and Cole Porter.

The firm, which launched a £6 million fundraise last summer, cited latest Statista figures showing the over 60s now make nearly 30% of streaming consumers, and said it is buying rights to “the music reminiscent of the Dad's Army generation”. 

Chief executive and founder, Michael Infante, said that the deal “secures the rights to the catalogue on an in-perpetuity basis”.

Last month the group bought producer Ian Levine’s rights to a string of early hits by Take That, while fellow songs investment fund Hipgnosis has been on an epic buying spree - buying rights to back catalogues from artists including Shakira, Neil Young and FleeMac's Lindsey Buckingham.
