Sales have been on an upward trajectory in Britain from minus 4.2% in the first quarter to minus 2.3% in the second, New Look added. It has also been trying to discount less and focus on key categories such as women’s clothes and shoes after it became “too edgy” under the previous management.
The attempt to boost New Look’s coffers comes after it emerged that High Street peer Debenhams could close up to 90 stores, up from previous expectations of 50 shop closures.
